JVCKenwood: Raises FY27 Revenue Outlook, Cuts Profit Forecast
JVCKenwood on Oct. 30, 2026, raised its FY ending March 2027 revenue forecast 3.3% to ¥376 billion, but cut business profit to ¥22.3 billion and net profit to ¥14.7 billion. North American radio weakness is offsetting gains in domestic products and music streaming.

Key facts
- Full-year revenue
- ¥376bn
- Business profit
- ¥22.3bn
- Operating profit
- ¥19.5bn
- Net profit
- ¥14.7bn
- Tariff refunds
- About ¥4.5bn added to business profit
Revenue outlook raised, but profit forecasts cut
JVCKenwood raised its revenue forecast while lowering forecasts for every profit measure from business profit through net income. The previous forecast, revised forecast and prior-year results are as follows.
| Metric | Previous forecast (¥100m) | Revised forecast (¥100m) | Prior-year result (¥100m) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Revenue | 3,640 | 3,760 | 3,568.7 |
| Business profit | 234 | 223 | 208.8 |
| Operating profit | 206 | 195 | 205.4 |
| Profit before tax | 210 | 197 | 216.6 |
| Profit attributable to owners of parent | 150 | 147 | 167.9 |
Compared with the previous forecast, revenue is up 3.3%, while business profit is down 4.7%, operating profit 5.3%, profit before tax 6.2% and net profit 2.0%. Revenue and business profit are expected to exceed the prior-year results, but operating profit, profit before tax and net profit are forecast to decline. Revenue growth is not expected to translate into higher profit across the board.
Growth in other businesses partly offsets Safety & Security weakness
By segment, growth in Mobility & Telematics Services (M&T) and Entertainment Solutions (ES) will partly offset lower revenue and profit in Safety & Security (S&S). Revisions from the previous forecast are as follows.
| Segment | Revenue, previous to revised (¥100m) | Business profit, previous to revised (¥100m) |
|---|---|---|
| S&S | 1,050 to 900 | 156 to 94 |
| M&T | 1,980 to 2,200 | 55 to 74 |
| ES | 540 to 580 | 23 to 55 |
| Other | 70 to 80 | 0 to 0 |
S&S revenue is ¥15 billion below the previous forecast, while business profit is ¥6.2 billion lower. By contrast, M&T revenue is ¥22 billion higher and business profit ¥1.9 billion higher; ES revenue is up ¥4 billion and business profit ¥3.2 billion. Stagnation in North American radio systems is weighing on profit, while domestic products and content sales are supporting results.
Domestic products and music streaming are strong, while North American projects stall
JVCKenwood revised its full-year outlook in light of first-half sales trends and changes in the North American public safety market. The main factors are as follows.
- M&T domestic products: Sales of products newly introduced since the end of the previous fiscal year increased in the first half, and are expected to exceed the initial forecast for the full year.
- ES entertainment business: Content sales, including music streaming, have been stronger than expected, prompting an increase to the full-year forecast.
- S&S radio systems business: Local governments, key customers in North America, have begun reviewing budget execution. Prospective projects have been frozen and new orders have stalled, with the second half also expected to fall short of assumptions.
- U.S. tariff refunds: JVCKenwood expects refunds of IEEPA tariffs to add about ¥4.5 billion to business profit, mainly through lower cost of sales, and about ¥200 million to profit before tax as financial income.
Even including the tariff refund benefit, profit forecasts are below the previous outlook. JVCKenwood expects S&S order stagnation to continue into the second half, leaving gains in M&T and ES insufficient to make up for the overall profit forecast cuts.
Balancing revenue growth with profit recovery is the focus
The revision highlights diverging performance across JVCKenwood’s businesses. Revenue and business profit are projected to exceed the prior-year results, but operating profit and lower-line measures are expected to fall short, leaving profit recovery an ongoing challenge.
Investors will be watching how long North American municipalities continue to review budget execution, and whether S&S projects resume and new orders pick up. They will also look for signs that strength in domestic products and content sales carries into the second half, and how underlying profit generation develops excluding tariff refunds. JVCKenwood said its forecast is based on information available as of the announcement date, and actual results may differ depending on future factors.

The revenue upgrade alone does not tell the full story. Business profit is forecast to exceed the prior-year result, but operating profit and net profit are expected to fall, underscoring the differing trends at each profit level. The key question is when S&S order stagnation will ease. With tariff refunds also included in the outlook, future results should be assessed by separating that contribution from underlying performance across the businesses.
