Earnings highlights
For the six months ended September 2026, Asahi Yukizai’s revenue rose 9.8% year on year, operating profit increased 28.6% and interim net income attributable to owners of the parent climbed 30.7%. Operating profit rose ¥1.244 billion from a year earlier, while net income increased ¥924 million.
- Semiconductor-related demand: Sales of key products grew as investment in U.S. semiconductor plant construction recovered. Memory-related demand also increased in Japan and South Korea, supported by the spread of generative AI.
- Domestic inventory building: Geopolitical tensions in the Middle East prompted a temporary push to secure inventories, boosting demand for resin valves and other products. The company said this demand is now moving toward normalization.
- Pricing and sales volumes: Price revisions to address higher raw-material costs, together with increased sales volumes, lifted profit.
- Mixed market conditions: Weak domestic demand and a pause in demand for semiconductor manufacturing equipment weighed on business in China, partly offset by generative AI-related demand.
Operating profit grew faster than revenue, lifting the operating margin to 12.8% from about 10.9% a year earlier. Higher demand helped, while pricing actions to offset raw-material inflation and product mix also contributed to the improvement. However, some domestic inventory building was temporary, leaving the durability of semiconductor investment and the success of price pass-through as key issues to watch.
Segment performance
Piping Systems, the company’s largest business, grew, while the Resins business also posted higher revenue and profit. Water Treatment and Resource Development recorded lower revenue as projects declined or were delayed, widening its operating loss.
- Piping Systems reported revenue of ¥28.046 billion and operating profit of ¥5.048 billion. In addition to domestic inventory building, higher sales of resin valves and other products tied to U.S. semiconductor investment contributed to growth. Price increases also advanced, and operating profit rose 27.7% year on year.
- Resins reported revenue of ¥12.351 billion and operating profit of ¥635 million. In electronic materials, the business captured demand from China’s FPD market. Sales of higher-value products in molded and foamed materials also expanded, alongside price revisions, lifting operating profit 41.6% year on year.
- Water Treatment and Resource Development reported revenue of ¥3.358 billion and an operating loss of ¥76 million. Large water-treatment projects declined, while starts and progress were delayed in hot spring and geothermal drilling.
Piping Systems remains the group’s main source of revenue and profit. Resins also improved its profitability, while delayed construction projects weighed on Water Treatment and Resource Development. The ability to capture semiconductor-related growth while getting projects back on schedule and managing procurement costs will be key to narrowing the performance gap between businesses.

Full-year outlook
Asahi Yukizai left its consolidated forecast for FY2027 unchanged. It expects revenue of ¥93 billion, operating profit of ¥12 billion and net income attributable to owners of the parent of ¥8.2 billion, with all three measures set to increase from the previous year.
| Item | Forecast announced in September | Current forecast | Year-on-year | Interim progress |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Revenue | ¥93 billion | ¥93 billion | +16.1% | 47.0% |
| Operating profit | ¥12 billion | ¥12 billion | +58.3% | 46.6% |
| Net income | ¥8.2 billion | ¥8.2 billion | +146.6% | 48.0% |
The earnings release did not give full-year amounts for the previous year’s actual results. Interim progress for revenue, operating profit and net income was around half of the full-year targets, with no significant shortfall against the plan.
Domestic inventory-building demand is normalizing, however, while weakness in China and construction delays remain. As the company made no changes to its forecast, achievement will depend on whether semiconductor-related demand continues in the second half and whether price increases can offset the rise in raw-material costs seen in the first half.
Risks and challenges
Semiconductor-related demand supported results, but market conditions varied by region and business. The following developments will be important to monitor in the second half, based on the company’s description of its operating environment and business conditions.
- Weak capital investment in China: Domestic demand remains soft, and demand for semiconductor manufacturing equipment has also paused. If sales of related products fall short of expectations, growth from semiconductor-related business could be constrained.
- Reversal of inventory-building demand: Geopolitical tensions in the Middle East prompted temporary inventory building in Japan. As demand normalizes, the extent of any pullback in sales will require attention.
- Raw-material supply uncertainty and procurement costs: Tensions in the Middle East and other factors have disrupted raw-material supply and raised procurement costs. The company is expanding its supplier base and revising prices, but delays in passing on higher costs could pressure profit.
- Delays to project starts and progress: Large projects declined or were delayed in water treatment and hot spring and geothermal drilling. Further slippage could postpone revenue recovery and improvements in project profitability.
Asahi Yukizai is working with suppliers, broadening its sourcing options and revising selling prices to address these risks. Its earnings forecast remains unchanged, but the impact of a demand pullback and project delays on the outlook will need continued monitoring.

The recovery in semiconductor-related demand translated into profit growth at Piping Systems and Resins. Operating profit grew faster than revenue, with price pass-through and sales of higher-value products supporting margins.
Still, temporary inventory building in Japan also contributed to first-half performance, so it would be premature to treat all of the increase as sustained demand growth. In the second half, investors will want to see whether U.S. semiconductor investment continues and whether delays in Water Treatment and Resource Development projects ease. The planned dividend increase and high equity ratio offer signs of stability, but the company left its earnings forecast unchanged, making any future revisions worth watching.
