EIZO Q2 FY2027: Operating profit rebounds, full-year outlook held

EIZO’s FY2027 first-half revenue rose 7.5% year on year and operating profit jumped 175.1%, as healthcare and aviation and defense sales grew and margins improved. Net income surged on gains from securities sales, but EIZO kept its full-year forecast unchanged amid uncertainty over component supplies.

Key takeaways
- 1V&S sales rose 40.8% year on year, driven by a major air traffic control project and stronger defense sales.
- 2EIZO booked ¥4.464 billion in gains from sales of cross-shareholdings and other securities, lifting interim net income 430.7% year on year.
- 3The company maintained its full-year revenue forecast at ¥85.0 billion, with first-half progress at 47.9%.
- 4EIZO bought back about ¥5.7 billion worth of its shares, and its interim dividend rose ¥2.50 year on year to ¥57.50.

Earnings highlights
For the six months ended September 2026, EIZO’s revenue rose 7.5% year on year to ¥40.697 billion. Operating profit climbed 175.1% to ¥1.815 billion, while net income attributable to owners of the parent surged 430.7% to ¥4.938 billion. The operating margin improved to 4.5% from about 1.7% a year earlier, as higher-value products boosted core earnings.
- Revenue growth: Sales increased in healthcare and B&P, as well as in V&S markets such as air traffic control and defense.
- Margin improvement: A richer mix of higher-value products and the weaker yen and stronger euro lifted gross profit.
- Cost benefits: European restructuring and rationalization, along with the absence of one-time costs for a new technology building incurred a year earlier, supported operating profit.
- Net income boost: EIZO booked ¥4.464 billion in extraordinary gains from the sale of cross-shareholdings and other securities.
Operating profit growth reflected not only higher sales but also improved margins and restrained fixed costs. The sharp rise in net income included gains from securities sales, so investors should distinguish that one-off contribution from growth in core earnings. Ordinary profit rose 64.3% to ¥2.451 billion.
Business-line performance
EIZO reports a single accounting segment centered on display equipment and related products, but discloses sales by end market. V&S posted the strongest growth, while healthcare also performed steadily.
V&S (Vertical & Specific) grew sharply as shipments began for a major North American air traffic control project and sales to defense customers expanded in Japan and overseas. Surveillance sales were firm amid growth in the security market, while demand for new ships in Japan supported marine sales. Demand tied to social infrastructure and national security lifted revenue.
Healthcare sales for diagnostic applications recovered in Europe and grew in India, the Middle East and Japan. Endoscopy sales were strong in China and India, while operating-room sales remained firm overseas. B&P exceeded the year-earlier level despite difficult economic conditions in Europe, helped by a buildup of sales projects, the weaker yen and a large project in Japan.
Creative Work declined as competition intensified in the entry-level market. EIZO plans to launch a color-management OLED monitor in December 2026 to strengthen its product competitiveness. Amusement sales fell against a year-earlier period when a mainstay model sold well, while the number of players and venues continued to decline. Year-on-year changes by market were as follows.
- B&P+16.6%
- Healthcare+6.3%
- Creative-11.4%
- V&S+40.8%
- Amusement-8.7%
- Other-21.4%
Financial position and capital policy
Total assets at the end of September 2026 increased ¥44.509 billion from the end of the previous fiscal year to ¥221.991 billion. The equity ratio fell to 75.6% from 77.2% at the previous year-end. Higher valuations of investment securities lifted assets and net assets, while EIZO also bought back its own shares.
| Item | FY2027 first half / year-end | Comparison |
|---|---|---|
| Operating cash flow (¥ million) | 2,454 | Year-earlier period 1,180 |
| Investing cash flow (¥ million) | 8,002 | Year-earlier period -4,103 |
| Financing cash flow (¥ million) | -8,178 | Year-earlier period -2,441 |
| Annual dividend (¥) | 115.00 forecast | Previous year 110.00 |
| Share buyback | ¥5,707 million | 1,926,600 shares acquired |
Operating cash flow exceeded the year-earlier level, while investing cash flow turned positive on proceeds including sales of investment securities. The share buyback, approved by the board in May and July 2026, reflects a focus on shareholder returns and capital efficiency. The annual dividend forecast is ¥5 higher than the previous year, but EIZO did not revise its dividend outlook.
Risks and challenges
With economic recoveries in Europe and China still weak, EIZO left its full-year forecast unchanged, citing uncertainty over component procurement. Differences in demand across markets and currency movements are also factors that could affect sales and profit.
- Economic conditions and regional demand: Europe has yet to see a full-fledged recovery, while weakness persists in China. A prolonged downturn in major markets could hinder a sales recovery.
- Component procurement: Uncertainty remains around sourcing. Supply constraints could affect shipments, including for large projects, and full-year results.
- Competitive environment: Competition is intensifying in the entry-level Creative Work market. Whether new products can revive sales and strengthen competitiveness will be a key focus.
- Shrinking amusement market: The number of players and venues continues to fall. Alongside fluctuations in sales timing for new models, contraction across the industry is a drag.
- Currency movements: The weaker yen and stronger euro boosted profit in the first half, but a reversal could weigh on the yen value of overseas sales and on margins.
Given these uncertainties, EIZO said performance was progressing well and ahead of plan, but it has not changed its forecast for now. The company said it would monitor procurement conditions and promptly announce any revision if one becomes necessary.
Full-year outlook
EIZO maintained its full-year forecast for the year ending March 2027 at the levels previously announced. The company said first-half results were progressing well and ahead of plan, but it held off on revisions because of uncertainty over component procurement.
| Metric | Previous forecast | Current forecast | Year-on-year |
|---|---|---|---|
| Revenue (¥ million) | 85,000 | 85,000 | +4.5% |
| Operating profit (¥ million) | 3,300 | 3,300 | +39.5% |
| Ordinary profit (¥ million) | 4,600 | 4,600 | +21.9% |
| Net income attributable to owners of the parent (¥ million) | 6,500 | 6,500 | -11.2% |
First-half revenue reached 47.9% of the full-year forecast, while operating profit reached 55.0%. The interim net income progress rate was 76.0%, but the first half included gains from securities sales, and EIZO expects full-year net income to decline from the previous year. Investors should look beyond earnings progress rates and monitor component procurement and core sales trends in the second half.
Strategy
On October 30, 2026, EIZO announced its ninth medium-term management plan. It describes the three years beginning in fiscal 2027 as a period to “evolve into a visual solutions company and reform the earnings structure,” with an emphasis on sustainable profit growth.
- Strengthening the business portfolio: EIZO plans to review businesses based on growth potential and profitability, directing management resources toward growth areas.
- Expanding the solutions business: Building on its imaging technology, the company will accelerate proposals for visual-environment solutions tailored to customers’ applications and challenges.
- Markets addressing social needs: EIZO aims to provide high-quality, highly reliable imaging products and systems that support healthcare, social infrastructure and safety.
In the first half, growth in V&S markets such as air traffic control and defense supported results. Progress under the medium-term plan will depend in part on whether EIZO can expand beyond product sales into tailored proposals and systems, and build businesses with higher profitability.

The increase in operating profit is an encouraging sign of a recovery in EIZO’s core business. V&S growth in particular suggests demand is translating into sales for the company’s technology in specialized applications such as air traffic control and defense.
However, the sharp rise in interim net income was heavily influenced by securities-sale gains, which may not recur at the same level in future periods. Investors will want to see whether the improvement in operating margins continues in the second half, while job seekers may watch whether EIZO can expand from selling imaging equipment into providing broader solutions.
